The future of microbiology is great! Outstanding #ASMicrobe session on recent advances by the next generation of microbiologists. I learned so much new science.

A fun afternoon participating in #DayOfScience during #ASMicrobe. Great turnout and lots of great activities. Bioluminescence didn't go as well as planned but still had a great time talking to kids of all ages about microbes. ASM

Awesome session going on right now on signaling in microbiomes at #ASMicrobe convened by Rosana Ferreira with speakers @ajai_dandekar Tiffany Zarrella and Caetano Antunes 🇧🇷🇺🇸🇨🇦 and my own student Blanca Rodriguez - looking forward to hearing all the great science!

Exclusion of women in science is still a problem. Women of color, disabled women, trans women, and other members of the lgtbqia community face some of the biggest hurdles. Excluding any of these (or other) underrepresented groups from this conversation is wrong.

Dr. Mimi Goldschmidt told it like it was in her treatment as a female #microbiologist over her 97-yr life + her scientific contributions on development of biosensors and more!

My session was only so fabulous because of the speakers and attendees! Thank you to everyone who spoke or came and special thanks to Pam Brown for suggesting I do this! (And seriously, look out for Alexa’s grad school applications- she is going to go far!) #ASMicrobe
