nytimes.com/2024/06/18/wor… Two recent Thai Prime Ministers were as camp as a row of tents - at his first press conference as Prime Minister, Kukrit Pramoj was asked by a cheeky hack if he was a homosexual - his reply? "Send your mother over and ask her in the morning."

My book of 2025, the foreign adventures of the great travel writer Norman Lewis, superbly edited & collected by the founder of Eland Books, John Hatt, who has done more than anyone to resurrect Lewis from the dusty unread. Eland is still incapable of publishing a dud book.

Why should the UK pay for the retention of Diego Garcia anyway? It is a US base, not a UK one . theguardian.com/politics/live/…

Doubt if Trump will be coming soon for a Buckingham Palace Banquet as too afraid of massive protests bound to greet him - apart from Moscow, Minsk or Pyongyang are there any world capitals where he could venture with no such risk? Even Tel Aviv, Rome or Budapest wouldn't work...
