At Tuesday's Full Council I asked Council Labour Leader if he'd be lobby the Labour Government to reverse the Winter Fuel Payment cut. He refused. I asked what additional measures the Council will put in to mitigate this cut. Answer: nothing they're not already doing Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum

Hard choices. But for who? It's not really hard on those who make them, the Labour Councillors, commissioners and senior officers. It is hard on the residents who suffer, the young people who might lose their youth centre, or communities losing their libraries. @brumgreens

Thank you Brandwood Police for the Speed Enforcement on Broad Lane today. Speeding & road safety continues to be an issue for residents. Continuing speed enforcement is needed.

Good to have coverage of the appalling slashing of our youth services in Birmingham and locally in Druids Heath. Outrageous this is happening in such a young city and in a part of it that's already left behind. Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum Jessica Murray : theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/o…

More coverage of Council cuts to youth services including Maypole Youth Centre. The Council talks about regeneration for Druids Heath. But pulling the remaining services from Druids Heath isn't regeneration. I'll keep fighting to keep them Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…

As a member of the scrutiny committee that would have heard this call in, I think this is outrageous and utterly undemocratic. The were concerns that the plans had specific impacts on carers and users that hadn't been addressed. We should have had the chance to hear this

Was pleased to be able to hand in the the petition on behalf of Birmingham Climate Justice Coalition at the Council Meeting last week reminding Birmingham City Council to stick to its climate emergency commitments. Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum

Council bin collections have been a nightmare for months. I questioned the Cabinet Member about it at last week's City Council meeting. His response didn't fill me with confidence our Labour run council will sort this out @brumgreens Coverage in Bham Mail: birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…

At last Tuesday's City Council meeting I again raised the issue of road safety and asked what action's been taken since Birmingham declared a road safety emergency. Answer: nowhere near enough. I'll say it again. Those tough decisions aren't really tough for those making them. They're tough on the people who are struggling and use the services being slashed. Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum

Birmingham's cuts are that bad it's gone international! Spoke to Le Monde about the effect of slashing council services, like Maypole Youth Centre, on the city and on Druids Heath & Monyhull, coverage in French here (partly paywalled): Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum lemonde.fr/economie/artic…

More coverage of Birmingham's current appalling issues with bin collections. This morning I was on BBC Birmingham & Black Country highlighting the impact on residents in my ward, who need it resolving quicker than next March! A response I got from the Council about the non-appearance of someone's replacement recycling bin. Apparently residents have to wait 9 months plus for a replacement recycling bin. Is it any wonder Birmingham City Council's recycling rates are so low. Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum

From heavy rain 🌧️ to extreme heat ☀️ tree lined streets can help reduce the effects of global warming for local residents. Not only does greener land reduce the possibility of flooding, canopy cover also reduces the temperature during heatwaves 🌳

In the run up to Christmas I'm again raising money for one of the foodbanks in my area. The Spearhead Trust do lots of great work supporting residents, including a local foodbank. But food supplies are running low. Please donate if you can: crowdfunder.co.uk/p/spearheadtru… Birmingham Green Party #VoteGreenInBrum

Brum bin strikes get worse. Labour-run Council is suspending recycling collections, and paid-for bulky waste collections, instead advising residents to take recycling to the tip! It's really unfair to put this on residents. This isn't a system it's a mess. birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-…
