Today marks the 77th anniversary since the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush.   Labour has appointed a Windrush commissioner Reverend Clive Foster MBE to be a trusted representative.   We won’t rest until justice is achieved.

On this day in 1948 Empire Windrush arrived in the UK & an amazing new chapter in the Birmingham story began. Today we say thank you to the #Windrush generation who helped shape modern Birmingham. The children & grandchildren of that generation continue to make their mark.

77 years ago today, the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury. As a daughter of the Windrush generation, I carry their courage & resilience in my bones. This #WindrushDay, we honour their legacy & fight for a Britain where dignity isn’t defined by where your journey began.
