What would I have to do as a riverfly monitor? 🤔 Trained riverfly monitors are assigned a site (or sites) on a river, which they go to on a monthly basis to collect data. #RiverflyPartnership #FAQ #Monitor #Volunteer #Freshwater #Invertebrates

The Cran Brook - great e.g’s of natural river habitats - lots of wood, bends, changes in flow / sediments, multiple channels. ‘Messy’ rivers can improve biodiversity & reduce downstream flooding. But signs of pollution (last pic). More work needed to improve river health globally

Another great training day yesterday with the Friends of Perry Park, Berkeley Road and University of Birmingham River Champions. The Holbrook in Perry Park where we sampled was unfortunately showing signs of an impoverished ecosystem and high pollution levels.
