If, shamefully, the #assistedsuicidebill passes the Commons, disabled people like us will fight them in the Lords, we will fight them in Whitehall and we will fight them in the NHS. We will never surrender. (With apologies to Winston Churchill 😀)

David Burton-Sampson MP told the House of Commons that he supports choice at the end of life. But what choice will dying people have if there is no adequate palliative or end-of-life care? The #AssistedSuicideBill will decimate the care which offers dying people an actual choice

Disabled people feel betrayed by John McDonnell attitude to the #AssistedDyingBill. A toothless advisory group does nothing to protect disabled people. He said he recognises disabled peoples' organisations are against the Bill, yet he chooses to vote for it anyway.

A powerful intervention by Jess Asato MP against the #AssistedDyingBill. We include anorexic people, and some want this Bill to pass so that they can legally demand suicide. But they are seriously mentally ill, needing protection from themselves. This Bill strips that away.

Very poor arguments from Paula Barker in the #AssistedDyingBill debate. The non-judicial panels proposed by the Bill do not have investigatory powers, or even a duty to investigate. They are simply tick-box exercises that procedure has been followed. They are not safeguards.

Nobody is speaking in the House of Commons in favour of the #AssistedDyingBill, other than the actual sponsors of the Bill and MPs associated with the euthanasia lobbyists. It is very clear that this is a Bill which will only pass if MPs are being covertly whipped.

An appalling speech from Lewis Atkinson MP in the #AssistedSuicideBill debate. This Bill does not require people to be at the end of their lives, it only requires two doctors to say that they might die within 6 months. MPs need to vote according to what the Bill actually says.

Vet surgeons like Neil Hudson are very familiar with euthanasia, and we welcome his opposition to the #AssistedDyingBill which would introduce euthanasia for humans too.

What is evident is a certain callousness and disregard towards the dignity of people living with disability on the part of largely young and able-bodied supporters of the assisted suicide bill.

The House of Commons is voting on the third reading of the #AssistedDyingBill. We hope parliamentarians vote the right way, to protect disabled and vulnerable people, and to stop a bad Bill.

The House of Commons has betrayed the interests of disabled people by voting through the #AssistedDyingBill. Such a narrow majority as 314 to 291 shows there is no consensus about this issue. We will continue to fight in the Lords, inside Whitehall, and in the NHS.

The Terminally Ill Adults Bill has lost its absolute majority in the Commons (they got 314, and it's 318 for absolute majority) And their lead has been cut by more than half Not a bad result The fight continues

314 MPs should be bitterly ashamed of themselves today. Passing the #AssistedDyingBill, which presents such a clear danger to disabled and vulnerable people, and is medically considered to be unsound, is a shocking dereliction of their duty to their constituents.

Devastated at the #AssistedDyingBill passing through the House of Commons - a tiny majority of 23 on a Private Member's Bill is no way to pass through legislation that will drastically alter how Disabled people trust and engage with healthcare professionals.

“It was not part of the Labour Party manifesto on which they were elected in July. “That means the bill does not fall under a longstanding convention that dictates the unelected House of Lords must not block the government’s manifesto promises.”

This is very wise. Danny, how I wish I had known of you before. I am merely a doctor who works with terminally ill pts on a daily basis. An incorrigible atheist (irrelevant, but also a bit inconvenient to black&white thinkers, I know, I know), with my petty concerns about aspects
