If, shamefully, the #assistedsuicidebill passes the Commons, disabled people like us will fight them in the Lords, we will fight them in Whitehall and we will fight them in the NHS. We will never surrender. (With apologies to Winston Churchill 😀)

Disabled people feel betrayed by John McDonnell attitude to the #AssistedDyingBill. A toothless advisory group does nothing to protect disabled people. He said he recognises disabled peoples' organisations are against the Bill, yet he chooses to vote for it anyway.

An appalling speech from Lewis Atkinson MP in the #AssistedSuicideBill debate. This Bill does not require people to be at the end of their lives, it only requires two doctors to say that they might die within 6 months. MPs need to vote according to what the Bill actually says.

Vet surgeons like Neil Hudson are very familiar with euthanasia, and we welcome his opposition to the #AssistedDyingBill which would introduce euthanasia for humans too.

What is evident is a certain callousness and disregard towards the dignity of people living with disability on the part of largely young and able-bodied supporters of the assisted suicide bill.

The House of Commons is voting on the third reading of the #AssistedDyingBill. We hope parliamentarians vote the right way, to protect disabled and vulnerable people, and to stop a bad Bill.

The House of Commons has betrayed the interests of disabled people by voting through the #AssistedDyingBill. Such a narrow majority as 314 to 291 shows there is no consensus about this issue. We will continue to fight in the Lords, inside Whitehall, and in the NHS.

314 MPs should be bitterly ashamed of themselves today. Passing the #AssistedDyingBill, which presents such a clear danger to disabled and vulnerable people, and is medically considered to be unsound, is a shocking dereliction of their duty to their constituents.

Devastated at the #AssistedDyingBill passing through the House of Commons - a tiny majority of 23 on a Private Member's Bill is no way to pass through legislation that will drastically alter how Disabled people trust and engage with healthcare professionals.
