This card is a great example of how much faster CMD is these days. It used to be a popular powerhouse card 10ish years ago for Sacrifice decks (you can get shocklands!) and it still reads good imo, but it's been way too slow for so many years that most CMD players don't know it

Commander 2011 vs. Commander 2024

Hidden Strings is an incredibly underrated budget tech card in Commander. In decks focused on evasive creatures it minimum untaps 2 lands per turn, for 2 mana, in Blue! It even refunds you the 2 mana to cast immediately! An allstar in Spellslinger w/ cast triggers e.g. Talrand

This is a perfect card. It's still relevant and powerful even after a decade+ of power creep but most importantly it makes amazing memories: I always remember the games when someone has an absurdly large/infinite army, about to swing, aaaaaand gotcha!
