Time to terminate my wild oat/millet “cover”. This should be the time for the vetch to take off…but with the heat, dry, grasshopper & now herbicide pressure, it’s in rough shape. Vetch always seems to surprise come harvest, but not ideal conditions to say the least.

Calling on all our crop friends out there!! The cow herd in Manitoba is in jeopardy. Let’s work together and find some feed sources. These critical feed sources will need to be realized in the next few months. #drought Manitoba Agriculture Manitoba Co-operator @BlainePedersen

Re: green-feed for cattle guys. Can somebody help connect the dots here?I can come up with thousands of acres of it. What needs to be done to link sellers with buyers? Right now it’s more profitable to take crop insurance and thresh 10 bushel wheat. While cattle will go hungry?

Looking for non-ag podcast recommendations. We aren’t 1/2 way done harvest and I’ve already hammered through my old favourites. If you’re looking for something to kill time, these are great.

Even after a 12 hour night shift at HSC and 2 hour drive home, my fiancé had enough energy to move bale graze paddocks. Promised I’d order her supper if she didn’t keep me waiting to long. #brrr

I would say the past 3 days on the farm have been hell on earth….but at least if this were hell the cattle waterers wouldn’t freeze.
