Greg McDermott on what he's seen from Creighton's roster, which has eight newcomers, throughout the summer: "Obviously, there's a learning curve for a lot of our new guys — and we have a lot of new guys. I think the progression has been good."

Greg McDermott said Howard transfer Blake Harper has some Baylor Scheierman in his game with how he sees the floor and creates. “It’s going to be a challenge coming from the MEAC to the Big East. It’s a little different world. He’s going to adjust to that with time.”

Creighton guard Fedor Zugic said last season was maybe the most mentally challenging year he's had between the eligibility dispute(s), leaving his family behind and adjusting to a new program. "Now that I don't have that, I feel free basically," Zugic said. "I feel so light."

Charlotte transfer Nik Graves said he wanted his portal process not to be about basketball. (Yes, you read that right.) It's become too transactional, Graves said, with NIL and revenue sharing. Ultimately, that led him to Creighton.

Hudson Greer said he asked Creighton's staff what to work on. They told the freshman to focus on his shot and getting up and down the floor. "I feel like I'm one of the most athletic guys in the gym most of the time," Greer said, "so just using that to the best of my abilities."

Wait until the Creighton fans really get to know Nik and what a great young man he is.

To clarify: Graves didn't pick Creighton because of a transactional relationship. He was looking for the exact opposite, and that's what he found with the Jays. My bad for any confusion.
