Very happy (and now relieved!) to have presented Sofia Lampropoulou (she/her) and I's work on migrant storytelling at #cadaad2024 today - thanks for the great discussions and feedback! 🥳🙌

On ‘objectivity’ in corpus based discourse studies: “No matter where you are in the continuum of theory-driven to data-driven, all work is ultimately researcher-driven” anna marchi 🏳️🌈 opening her #cadaad2024 plenary with home truths

“We turned cherry picking into cherry harvesting!” We usually use CADS to look for repetition ‘not visible to the naked eye’ but also need to use a ‘CADS eye’ to look for multiplicity; both are components of the incremental effect of discourse anna marchi 🏳️🌈 #cadaad2024

We often use the metaphor of a methodology like CADS taking a birds’ eye view, meaning from a distance. However, birds’ eyes are different from humans’; we don’t just get a view from afar but a view totally altered anna marchi 🏳️🌈 #cadaad2024

anna marchi 🏳️🌈's plenary on nostalgia and CADS at #CADAAD2024 was as fascinating as it was engaging! There are infinite quotable moments but the notion of "failing with passion" was such a wonderful reframing of something we typically sweep under the rug. Thank you Anna!

My presentation 2/2 with Dimitris Serafis | @dimitrisrf.bsky.social ✅️ 🤓🇮🇹🇬🇷 For more, join the panel on Advances in CDS and Argumentation in Gorna room! #CADAAD2024 #cadaad2024

Brilliant presentation by Sofia Lampropoulou (she/her) Sam Bennett 🟣 and @camilamontielmc on migrant migration stories #CADAAD2024

A really inspiring talk by Sten Hansson | @stenhansson.bsky.social on #rationalisations - argument #schemes - #critical questions - emancipatory #critique #CADAAD2024

I really liked anna marchi 🏳️🌈's notion of "failing passionately" - but ultimately succeeding - when trying to identify a not clearly lexically defined concept (nostalgia) in a corpus. #cadaad2024

We're on to the final plenary. Zohar Kampf Bonding strategies: blurring boundaries and building affiliations in diplomatic discourse

Fantastic final plenary by Zohar Kampf at #cadaad2024: politeness theory, conversation analysis - and unicorns (not pictured)!

Anna Marchi pushing the envelope of CADS! Such an inspiring take on how we can use CADS to get outside our researcher selves and pushing methodological boundaries anna marchi 🏳️🌈 #cadaad2024

Fantastic and thought-provoking work on the role of emotions in the support of far-right populist parties in Ireland by Veronika Koller (account not active) and Laura Filardo-Llamas with a reflection on the difficulty of univocally identifying signaled and evoked emotions #cadaad2024

Thank you Sam Bennett 🟣 for an excellent #cadaad2024 in #Poznan UAM Poznań. Learned a lot, got inspired, challenged, and motivated. Now to sort out all my notes and follow-up on all unfinished discussions! Good luck to the new editors of CADAAD Journal too Until 2026 :-)
