1/ A very important finding from the Bristol group: higher CO2 indoors makes the SARS-CoV-2 virus survive much longer in air Makes ventilation more important, transmission goes approx. with its square, not just linearly

Interesting to look back now at the time when the first indoor CO2 limits were imposed by law. (in UK) In 1904 a ventilation standard of 1200 ppm CO2 was considered “much too lax” by the medical authorities (!) and they pleaded for a maximum of 900 ppm CO2 in working places. 1/3

Inspired by CAVI - Community Access to Ventilation Information and its CO2 monitor library lending program, I started a Muse meditation device lending program at my school. Feel free to contact me with any questions about starting one at your school.

After reading on here about CO2 monitoring, and checking prices on Amazon, I found that I could borrow one for a week from the public library. Will take it everywhere to see how conditions vary, and how much it fluctuates at home.

In 🇨🇦 and 🇺🇸, nearly 180 public libraries have a CO2 monitors lending program. A great initiative by CAVI - Community Access to Ventilation Information. In 🇫🇷, Université Paris-Saclay also has a lending program. These "early adopters" are listed on cavico2.com and on letsair.org/#early

You can borrow an Aranet from NB public libraries! For free you can find out which spaces around you are driving the spread of sickness in your communities. Just call or visit your local public library in NB and ask to borrow a CO2 monitor or search the catalogue for aranet.

Aiden Zhou Liang's mask It's not the CO2 itself that's the (main) problem, rather it's a proxy way to measure that ∼7% the air I would be inhaling is air that has been breathed out by other people. 3000+ ppm means *lots* of various viruses (incl covid variants) floating around.

If you would like to borrow a CO2 monitor to find out more about the air in the places you go you may just be able to borrow one at your local library thanks to a generous grant from the Balvi Fund. Visit our website for more details. 😊 🚥

Did you know? Pretty much every province has CO2 monitors available for loan from public libraries thanks to the incredible work of CAVI - Community Access to Ventilation Information !! Please spread the word outside of Twitter that we can all take measurements in the buildings we use that help us make decisions.

Interesting to consider for anyone who is testing CO2 levels… test the same space at different times of the year. You may get different readings based on the season.
