While not the full scope of a country’s #climate policy, #NDCs are what nations commit to internationally in the effort to keep #globalwarming below 1.5°C by 2100.

A well-designed NDC helps attract: 🔹 climate finance, 🔹guide national policy, and 🔹ensure transparency and accountability. The next round of NDCs is due this year. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙙, 𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚-𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗡𝗗𝗖𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are drivers of innovation, pathways to resilience, and a blueprint for global ambition.

🇯🇲 Jamaica’s NDC 3.0 focuses on protecting people, food systems & ecosystems from climate impacts. 👉 A key step: the National Ecosystem Restoration Plan (2024–2034) using nature to boost resilience, store carbon & safeguard coastlines. #ClimateAction #NDCs

#Adaptation in #NDCs offers a strategic opportunity to build #resilience and attract support. Experts recommend that adaptation goals be: 🔹 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧, 🔹 𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚-𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 🔹 𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩.

Whether or not #adaptation is included in an #NDC is up to each country, based on their needs, risks, and national priorities. When countries do include adaptation, it should align with existing national plans like the National Adaptation Plan or other #climate strategies.
