Northside residents: please stay away from LeBlanc Rd area Florence where officers have a residence contained for a a weapons complaint. We don't believe any risk to public safety, but nearby residents asked to stay in homes while officers on scene continue with operations.

UPDATE: the matter on LeBlanc Road in Florence is resolved. There is no risk to public safety and no further requirement for residents to remain at home. Police will remain on scene for investigation purposes.

Traffic Advisory: George Street is closed at Debarres Street through to the Imperial Esso Station at Ortona Drive due to a gas leak. Surrounding side streets are being evacuated and limited to local traffic only. Please avoid the area until further notice.

Motorists: Donkin Hwy is closed to traffic at Bastable Street & near civic marker 1000, where officers have a residence in the area contained and are negotiating in response to a domestic weapons threat. Please stay away from the area while they continue operations.

Police are on the scene of a reported shooting on Leblanc Road in Sydney Mines and have the suspected shooter in custody. Patrol, Emergency Response and K-9 officers have the area contained and ask the public to please stay away while police continue their operations.
