Northside residents: please stay away from LeBlanc Rd area Florence where officers have a residence contained for a a weapons complaint. We don't believe any risk to public safety, but nearby residents asked to stay in homes while officers on scene continue with operations.

UPDATE: the matter on LeBlanc Road in Florence is resolved. There is no risk to public safety and no further requirement for residents to remain at home. Police will remain on scene for investigation purposes.

Motorists: Grand Narrows Bridge is closed to traffic for the next several hours as the result of a single vehicle collision. Please use alternate routes. Officers remain on scene, no life-threatening injuries.

Update: the Grand Narrowws Bridge is re-opened to traffic.

Traffic Advisory: George Street is closed at Debarres Street through to the Imperial Esso Station at Ortona Drive due to a gas leak. Surrounding side streets are being evacuated and limited to local traffic only. Please avoid the area until further notice.

Please stay home until crews can cleanup for safer driving conditions. There are more than 70 roads across the CBRM that look like this right now. Downed trees and power lines are dangerous, and extra vehicles create more hazards for emergency responders.

Motorists: Donkin Hwy is closed to traffic at Bastable Street & near civic marker 1000, where officers have a residence in the area contained and are negotiating in response to a domestic weapons threat. Please stay away from the area while they continue operations.

Update on Donkin Highway: officers have successfully negotiated the man into custody. Traffic will resume shortly.

Police are on the scene of a reported shooting on Leblanc Road in Sydney Mines and have the suspected shooter in custody. Patrol, Emergency Response and K-9 officers have the area contained and ask the public to please stay away while police continue their operations.

Motorists: Terry Way - b/n the Cape Breton Regional Hospital & Churchill Drive in Membertou - is closed to traffic, where officers are on scene of a motor vehicle-pedestrian collision. Expect delays, follow the direction of officers, and take an alternate route where possible.

We're looking for a 2015 white Hyundai Elantra, NS License HAW 341. Last seen in area of Purves St / Hwy 105 with 2-3 male occupants & possible firearm, after shots fired on Barrington St. No injuries, isolated incident. Don't approach car, call 902-563-5151 or Crime Stoppers.

We are no longer looking for the 2015 white Hyundai Elantra; it has been located, but no persons were with it. We continue to investigate the shooting incident at a residence in Sydney Mines which appears to be an isolated incident.
