Just finished re-reading this. What an amazing writer @larapawson is. And what a great publisher Charles Boyle is too. Despite all the shit that seems to straddle the world books and music remain a constant source of respite and relief

Spines, in The Bookseller as 4 guys in black T-shirts, promise to 'disrupt' the publishing industry by putting out 8000 books a year using AI: what exactly, given that this industry is based on selling irrespective of quality, is the problem here? I'm not worried. Should I be?

Most dissing of those guys in black T-shirts who want to publish 8000 books a year with AI is coming from publishers who put out crap, but crap that sells.

I've been trying to apply to for a PEN translation grant for £2K, painful, I give up. Meanwhile, Rachel Cusk & a writer I've published are tutoring in Greece in spring next year, £3,500 for five days plus air fares. They will have a lovely time.
