Just did another one last week (clamshell for first txp). It is safe in the right patients! Did two redos last week (phew I’m tired) and it was only appropriate in one of them, but with proper patient selection it is a great option. Central VA ECMO via R thoracotomy.

AND the most lung transplants we have ever done at Vandy - 99!!! Top 8 in volume with the second best 1-yr survival in the country. We got 99 problems but transplanting ain’t 1.
