The NSA have encouraged consumers to try sustainably produced lamb or mutton this Christmas. A nutrient-rich alternative, it supports local farmers and has a reduced environmental impact (thanks to extensive grassland required for free-range sheep acting as a vital carbon sink!)

Things are hotting up at the CET! Construction of the Fort Climate Centre is under way with huge thanks to Mr. Fort. The space will be dedicated to facilitating the teaching of climate and environmental science, encouraging positive behavioural change towards a greener future.

In February we joined over 1,900 other farmers for the Big Farmland Bird Count, & the stats are in... 130 species spotted, with 7 of the top 25 being on the Red List for Birds of Conservation Concern: Starling, lapwing, fieldfare, linnet, house sparrow, yellowhammer and skylark!

Common toads living in trees? Volunteers searching for dormice found these amphibians dwelling up to 3 meters high! While reasons behind this arboreal behaviour remain unknown, research from Froglife & Cambridge University suggests they may be searching for food or evading predators

Brief encounter? These are cotton pants we buried in April to test the microbiological activities of the soil. Woodland habitat was the top pair, while the lower was in the vegetable patch and completely biodegraded bar the elastic, suggesting increased bacterial activity there
