The Astrophysics Source Code Library is a great service! They found my turbulence generator on github and made an entry: ascl.net/2204.001

apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap220722.… The big empty round places in this amazing new NASA Webb Telescope image of M74 are likely to be giant cavities caused by many supernovae going off together, and they "trigger" more star formation (red blobs) around cavity edges. Astronomy Picture of the Day caption gives link to compare

#MNRAS will be switching from green OA to gold OA next year. Subscription costs will disappear, but authors will now have to pay an article processing charge of £2310 for each paper (RAS members get a 20% discount, authors in developing countries get a waiver).

Idk, we publish >12 MNRAS papers per year in my research group, and I review about 5-10 MNRAS papers per year. THEY GOTTA BE KIDDING ME to ask for thousands of dollars to publish our own intellectual property and mostly edited ourselves…and we serve as referees for free…🤬

This is how MNRAS published Justin Hew‘s recent paper. Instead of placing the figures close to the text/section where they are discussed, they put them all on 1 page. From 2024, MNRAS would want 4k Australian $ for this typesetting disaster? Our own arXiv version looks better…
