A £260m plan to build a massive film and tv studio has been blocked by the Government. The cause of Britain's persistently low levels of investment isn't pension funds (as some Ministers claim), it's the Government repeatedly blocking major investment.

It's quite bananas that British politicians actively celebrate stopping new investment in their localities. Film studios are possibly the nicest industry to have near you, but this was like a red flag to a bull for local "residents" and their parliamentary representative.

Ludicrous that investors have decided there’s a big enough need for studio space, that they’re actively trying to spend hundreds of million pounds on it, yet the government has just turned around and said, oh no, that need isn’t real. We’re going to block your private investment.

Chris Hinchliff gallops in on his recycled paper horse, screaming that homes are “murder.” A cosplay Captain Planet with a landlord’s agenda. Amendment 69 “saves hedgehogs” while real kids sleep on floors. If you think this is smart policy, explain how sofa-surfing helps

We've had a major leak to LFG - looks like govt is giving in to some mad demands after intense lobbying. The vegetable lobby is making sure nothing gets built in Britain. The Bill was already medoicre, these changes will make it pointless. No more decline. This must end!

It is utterly sick that Greta Thunberg is cosplaying at being “kidnapped” while real kidnap victims are terrorised and trapped by Hamas terrorists just miles from her yacht. You were not kidnapped, Greta. You were arrested for illegally entering a country’s waters and deported.

If you're a pension-age couple with a combined income of just under £70,000 a year, the government will give you taxpayers' money to pay your energy bills with. If you're a family earning a fraction of that amount and struggling to keep your children warm this winter, no help

Rents are up a whopping 30% over the last 4 years. £300 PER MONTH on young workers' cost of living. What help will they be getting? Naff all.

Really fascinating looking at voting intention by life satisfaction: Both the Green Party and Reform do much better with people with lower life satisfaction, Labour is only convincingly ahead with people who rate their life satisfaction at 10/10

Economists focus on planning restrictions because evidence shows they create enormous harm while providing little benefit. (see cis.org.au/wp-content/upl…) Non-economists fret about policies that are less important. Economists want evidence-based policy.

There is a common view that the only way London can meet its housing target is through massive subsidies. This is nuts. In parts of London, the value of new homes can be 4-5 times the cost of construction. The problem is simple: planning.
