Many New Yorkers have lost their lives defending our nation, and today we pay tribute to the bravery and selflessness of our service members. Happy #MemorialDay, NYC! 🇺🇸

Last week, I saw a lovely performance by students at PS516 & Center 4 Family Life afterschool programs. The federal cuts to Americorps funding have put CFL afterschool programs at risk. I’m fighting desperately to ensure that our city can fill the gaps left by this cruel decision.

Now in City Council: Alexa Avilés slams NYC's Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs for not supporting pro bono lawyers for unaccompanied children. That's as more kids are going to court without attorneys due to Trump funding cuts, per our reporting. gothamist.com/news/4-year-ol…

Today, I introduced Res 870 alongside Carmen De La Rosa and Rita C. Joseph to call on the DOE to establish a Labor History Month in public schools. NYC's students must be taught their rights as future workers and the hard-fought struggles labor unions waged to win those protections.

It’s been 31 days since the NYPD launched its political assault on Deliveristas and the working class.  We must end this attack. We need reformed streets, not police overreach.  No to summonses and spectacle, yes to street safety solutions that honor hardworking New Yorkers.
