It has been fun (and busy) building NGCF's data acquisition and motion control systems - DigiDAQ and PACS - for the University of Southampton's new geotechnical centrifuge facility. Enjoy! University of Southampton UoSEngineering UKCRIC COFS UWA UWA Research

Well this is exciting, a new pile hammer just back from the workshop and ready for a spin before tackling new research on impact driven monopiles for offshore wind applications. COFS UWA UWA Research

Hypnotising work by @COFS researcher Juliano Nietiedt, working with @ChrisGaudinCOFS and Mark Randolph on driving monopiles through scour protection as part of our research into pile tip damage and extrusion buckling for offshore wind. UWA Research

A very exciting new vibrohammer development for centrifuge modelling of offshore monopile installations for offshore wind! Great work from the NGCF team and COFS UWA & UWA_OGS researchers Júlia Hein Mazutti, Britta Bienen, Fraser Bransby and Mark Randolph UWA Research UWA

Its not silly if it works! It can get interesting pouring Kaolin slurry into a new sample. Takes a real team effort to make sure the intricate model's aren't disturbed. UWA Research

Install trials of an offshore pipe section in a Gulf of Mexico clay. Keeping our model small to reduce drainage paths and monitoring consolidation times closely with a pore pressure transducer at the invert. Can’t wait to see some cycling data (coming soon). FUN! UWA Research

Utilising only a single camera, these marker blocks from Photron allow us to measure pile displacement in 3D space to an accuracy of <1mm. Greatly appreciating the simplicity of the setup! UWA Research

Time for a quick selfie in between suction bucket tests on the C661 centrifuge. Thanks to Senthen Mani for a fun testing campaign!😃😃

Exciting to bring centrifuge modelling to life! Investigating long term anchor behaviour in natural, structured soil. NGCF’s instrumented reduced-scale plate anchors monitor pore pressure and anchor load in the field during cyclic and sustained loading.
