Oh no the “Math Curse” has hit me and turned my hair into numbers. Only my students can break the curse by answering math questions. Middle school students love read aloud too!#NCSS_Literacy @Loi_McGovern Dr. Jennifer Williams

Exciting things happening at TomeCon. Our Cousins MiddleSchool book club members got to meet the author of “Nura and the Immortal Palace” and learn more about the plight of child labor. Maeeda/M.T. Khan #ReadAcrossNewton #TomeCon2024

Day 1 of our Cousins MiddleSchool Dr. Seuss book fair was a success. We celebrated Green Eggs and Ham by wearing green. Pictured below are the winners from our raffle. We also had some Dr. Seuss read aloud in our SS 6th grade classes.

Fractions are fun when Patrice Peek reads Whole-y Cow to sixth graders! This picture book makes a tough concept easily accessible to all. Students discussed fractions in the real world, and even used numerator and denominator correctly. Lori McGovern #ReadAcrossNewton

I Want My Hat Back by jon klassen turned into newspaper articles with Book Creator Team! These 8th graders rocked the assignment in S. Fulton’s class Cousins MiddleSchool! They reviewed essential criteria of journalism while tapping into their creative side!! #ReadAcrossNewton

I just love when I enter into a math class and see a story written with vocabulary terms to introduce algebra. Ms. Chambers encouraged her class to read out loud and discuss what the bolded words mean. #literacyinmath #ReadacrossNewton Cousins MiddleSchool

Our Student of the Month celebration took place today at Cousins MiddleSchool Our scholars received a certificate and the wonderful words their teacher shared when they were nominated.

Book club met today to compare the labors of Hercules (myth) vs labors of Hercules (book). Compare and Contrast is a great strategy to look at similarities and differences between characters. #bookclubs Lori McGovern Ijeoma Johnson Dr. Jennifer Williams
