Katherine Hill Digital access is essential for family life, with implications for school work, home-school communication, accessing services, socialising and keeping in touch. But some families face challenges in meeting their digital needs. Should connectivity be a human right?

Some of the concerns raised by families who did not meet the #MDLS: 🙁Social isolation 📖Difficulties for children doing homework 🪫Old devices with insufficient battery life & storage ⚠️Online safety 📆 Making & keeping appointments

What families need to meet MDLS: 🏠Reliable home WiFi 📱Entry-level smartphone per parent & older school child & 5GB data a month 🛜3GB data a month for parents of younger children 💻A computer 📺Smart TV, TV licence & subscription service 🎮Online gaming 🧠Skills & knowledge
