Great time at the EMBO - BMSV 2025; really nice diversity of people and research, beautiful location and catching-up with old friends. Coralie Fumeaux

Richard Losick is coming to University of Warwick to deliver a series of lectures on groundbreaking discoveries in molecular biology!

With Tiago Costa, we challenged AI co-scientist to generate scientific hypotheses. It correctly predicted how cf-PICIs spread between bacterial species, matching our unpublished, experimentally confirmed mechanism! 🤯Imperial College London Fleming Initiative biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

With José R Penadés, we challenged AI co-scientist Google AI to generate hypotheses. In just 2 days, it recapitulated our unpublished, experimentally confirmed mechanism for how cf-PICIs spread between bacterial species! 🤯 Imperial College London Fleming Initiative tinyurl.com/3byyaeh2

Come to the opening of the Warwick Integrated Structural Biology Symposium! Life Sciences University of Warwick Biophysical group Warwick Chemistry Warwick Physics Warwick Engineering Warwick Med School

Wonderful to have Simonetta Gribaldo sharing their fascinating research on the evolution of the bacterial envelope at our Life Sciences Microbiology & Infectious Disease seminar series!

Does every scientist need an AI co-scientist? We sat down with José R Penadés & Tiago Costa, two Imperial College London professors putting @google's new 'AI co-scientist' tool to the test. How long did it take AI to solve the mystery they'd spent a decade trying to figure out? 🧵

Our nucloid organization work is finally out Nature Communications: doi.org/10.1038/s41467… and rdcu.be/eiqzl We visualized the E. coli nucleoid during drug treatment, suggesting that transertion mediates nucleoid anchoring to the membrane. #superresolution #microbiology

Checkout out our computational framework, MemTorMD, for studying toroidal membranes of biological dimensions, present at division and fission sites. We studied lipid behaviour at these sites but also simulated membrane fission. Collaboration with Chris LB Graham and Phill Stansfeld

News 1 🤩 my final work with Mostowy Lab at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has been published: Shigella-trained zebrafish macrophages are more pro-inflammatory and have enhanced antibacterial activity 🐠🦠🔬🛡️thanks Dominik Brokatzky for the help! cell.com/cell-reports/f…
