15 years & 6,500 or so bylines later, I’ve decided to leave my role at NBC Sports Philly. Series in Houston my last for now The constant farewells are the worst part of this industry. You never get used to it. I’ll still be covering ball in various forms tho, so not disappearing

The Astros lineup the Phillies face this week has been better each month but is as unbalanced as it gets without Yordan Alvarez. They have 3 homers all season from non-Alvarez lefties and have played a bunch of games without any. Suarez, Wheeler, Sanchez starting in Houston.

Julian Tavarez with the greatest pickoff attempt of all-time. I never saw it live (2006), but I remember it being on the Jerry Remy end of season recap that NESN used to do. “Just when you think maybe you’ve seen it all, you haven’t come close” - Terry Francona said.

Bryce Harper will do his full routine today pregame, take about 50 swings, field grounders and go through his throwing program. Could progress to BP in the cage tomorrow if today goes well. Progressing, but Thomson didn’t sound like he expected him to be activated in Houston.

It does not sound like Bryce Harper will be activated in Houston but he went through his full pregame routine Tuesday, swinging more than he has since being placed on the injured list June 7 with right wrist inflammation. trib.al/R60HMcT

51 of Ranger Suarez' last 57 innings have been scoreless. A team has scored more than one run off him once in those 57 innings. Once in 7 weeks.

Ranger Suarez was in cruise control for a 9th straight start but made one mistake on his 98th pitch of the night and paid for it in a 1-0 Phillies loss. "I'm proud of it being a good start but you can't miss pitches at this level." trib.al/UkEgffv

Bryce Harper's progressed to taking BP in the cage and "came out of it very good," Thomson said "Probably repeat that tomorrow because it's a day game and then we'll see where we're at in Atlanta if we can get outside" No return date given but this weekend's a possibility

Zack Wheeler pitches by inning tonight: 26, 21, 11, 12, 13 Settled in, retired 10 of 11. Phillies trail 1-0, though. They have no runs and 1 extra-base hit through 14 innings of the series in Houston.

The Phillies wasted a gem by Ranger Suarez on Tuesday night, a nearly spotless start from Zack Wheeler on Wednesday night and have been shut out back-to-back games in Houston. trib.al/HchmeM6

Congratulations on retirement, Whit Merrifield! Nick Castellanos, Matt Chapman, Kyle Schwarber, and Garrett Stubbs saluted their former teammate on today's show. ❤️

John DiSangro was so important to Temple that John Chaney’s longtime assistant said Chaney wouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame without DiSangro. He was just as vital every night to the Phillies telecasts. He had two great careers before dying this week. inquirer.com/college-sports…

One of the best, a fixture in Philly sports for decades. There are so many folks behind-the-scenes responsible for making a broadcast hum and Sang was sure one of them, on top of just being a good man. RIP.

Phillies starting pitchers have allowed 1 run or fewer in 14 of their past 18 games. ⚾️ 2.18 ERA, 119 K, 26 BB Somehow they're only 10-8 in that stretch.
