Evening of May 8 1945, the Liberation of TerezĆn ghetto began with Russian soldiers & tanks entering through the iron gates. Survivors said the Russian soldiers gave out chocolate, cigarettes & treats. Thinking of the journeys survivors would then go on. What did Liberation mean?

When teaching about the Nazi book burnings, which began #OTD 1933. I use this drawing by Ella Liebermann, who survived Auschwitz in part due to her art skills. After Liberation in 1945, she began to create a series of drawings, On the Edge of the Abyss. Art below, Book Burning.

Excellent H.E.T. CPD, with Prof Gilly Carr exploring ā€˜Teaching about the occupation of the Channel Islands’ During the German occupation of the Channel Islands 1940–1945, many thousands of people were persecuted, including slave labourers, political prisoners and Jews.

#OTD remembering Sir Nicholas Winton's birthday, known for organising the rescue of 669 mostly Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia during the 9 months before war broke out 1939. I was fortunate to collaborate with his daughter Barbara Winton to create these collages

Today marks #Srebrenica30. I was privileged to go on an educational #LessonsfromSrebenica visit with Remembering Srebrenica in 2018. The sites, survivors, people I met, and testimonies I witnessed stay with me & continue continue to inform my Genocide educational arts work. War Childhood Museum
