Hive inspection day! Margie Liddick, Zachary Taulton and bee mentor, Dave Maloney helped as we introduced a new group of students to the hives on campus. We inspected all 6 hives and did a mite test on 4. Hives look good as they prepare for fall, mite counts within the threshold.

Students are "speed dating" to find their partners for the business plan project.

Yesterday, we read the story Chrysanthemum after being inspired by Aubrey. Aubrey checked out the book at the GVES media center so I could read it to my class after she saw the word chrysanthemum on my board. #BeKind

#MyHybridDayAtCTC had us in the apiary to conduct a quick hive inspection this morning. We wanted to see if hive #5 took the frame of eggs we gave them and began the process of making themselves a new queen. We found they had started making themselves 3 new queens!

Day 2 of processing tomatoes for spaghetti sauce with Margie Liddick. Our end goal is to host a pasta bar fundraiser later this year. Ag Business students will be calculating the costs, and creating marketing materials for the event.

I noticed the Butterfly Weed at school was being eaten up...I'm happy to report I found the culprit. Butterfly Weed is one of the $5 perennials we'll have available at our fall sale on 9/20 and 10/6. Perennials are first come, first seve. #PlantingforPollinators
