We need the social studies!*!*! For society, for democracy NAEP: only 13% eighth graders proficient in U.S. history — down from a peak of 18% in 2014. A mere 22% of those students are proficient in civics, the first decline since the test began in 1998. historynewsnetwork.org/article/185806
