Today, the Committee on Higher Education held an oversight hearing on the new CUNY School of Medicine to hear about the school’s challenges and successes during their transition to an independent institution.

CUNY Medicine welcomed Gustavo Rivera today and showed the Senator what makes our public medical school unique. From our 7 year accelerated MD program, to our dedication to student success, CUNY Medicine is producing the healthcare professionals that New York wants to see.

The Sisters of Sophie hosted their annual Black Women in Medicine Panel last night. Six panelists, four of whom were alumni, shared with our students what led them to become physicians, and emphasized the importance of community. We thank them for making this a memorable event.

On May 6th, CUNY School of Medicine held its Gold Humanism Honor Society Induction Ceremony, recognizing medical students, residents, and faculty who exemplify compassionate, patient-centered care. We thank everyone who helped make this event possible.
