Dr. Santosh Kumar has been working on breeding wheat to ensure the crop is able to handle challenges such as climate change and extreme weather, hoping to bolster the world’s food supply and ensure farms are sustainable at the same time. bit.ly/3QFxdQN #bdnmb

We are making plans on how to name our future cereal (mostly wheat) varieties & looking to add a prefix with varieties’ names. Which prefix do you think will rhyme well with names & help us build a brand around our research program?

For those who are interested, the average canola-wheat yield difference has been widening in favour of wheat for quite some time.

Average prairie canola yield relative to spring wheat. From about 1990 to 2011, canola yield was gaining relative to wheat- driven by improved weed control, hybrid vigour, & the elimination of early maturing, lower yielding B.rapa, which was about 30% of canola acres
