The Council of the European Spallation Source (ESS) ESS met last week at PSI. Construction work on this complex facility is proceeding apace. PSI, home to SINQ and UCN, is contributing five instruments to the project, one of which is the pioneering ESTIA reflectometer.

Lat week, the directors and researchers of the six institutions of the ETH Domain presented their innovative research projects and results on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (World Economic Forum) in Davos.

📅Last week we welcomed Beate Heinemann, Director DESY (Deutsch) DESY (English), to PSI Paul Scherrer Institut for an enlightening visit to the institute’s Laboratory of Particle Physics. She was also introduced to PSI’s expertise in detector construction and chip design.

Scientific innovation, collaboration, multidisciplinary approaches, knowledge sharing and creative problem solving - this was just a glimpse of the vibrant atmosphere at the Scientific Retreat of the Scientific Computing, Theory and Data (SCD) Division PSI Paul Scherrer Institut .

Yesterday was a fantastic evening for psi ch, Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare and myself🙂! The new #InnovationPark celebrated its opening with the Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, the Government Councillor Dieter Egli as well as numerous guests from politics, business and research.

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Klingnau (AG) to celebrate 25 years of SwissNeutronics AG one of the world's leading manufacturers of neutron optical components and the oldest spin-off of PSI Paul Scherrer Institut😊. Congratulations to the entire SwissNeutronics team!

#EnergyTransition: Strategy meeting and visit to Gaznat's innovation lab in Aigle, the largest industrial-scale laboratory for the development of CO2-neutral renewable gases, in French-speaking Switzerland.

#EnergyTransition: it was a pleasure to attend the “The Spirit of Bern” conference with experts from politics, science and industry to discuss topics relevant to our society. This year's dialogue centered on Switzerland's energy transition and the progress of renewable energy.

Hans-Kaspar Scherrer, CEO Eniwa, presented the pioneering project for the renewal of the run-of-river power station in Aarau, which could be implemented immediately. If we are not able to implement such projects ASAP the #EnergyTransition will not happen any time soon!!

Every summer PSI Paul Scherrer Institut welcomes a new wave of eager students to join our summer programme. For six to twelve weeks, students work on ongoing research projects and contribute to PSI's cutting-edge research. A fantastic opportunity to experience research first-hand!

The visit by Fiona Marshall, President of Biomedical Research at Novartis, to PSI Paul Scherrer Institut was a highlight. I look forward to intensifying our collaboration in structural biology, radioligand therapy, and the use of AI with pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis.

Back to science! It was a pleasure to reconnect with the Swiss #CondensedMatter community at the 2024 Swiss Workshop on Materials with Novel Electronic Properties (MaNEP) in Les Diablerets and meet so many scientists, engineers, and students from Swiss academic institutions.

Yves Zumwald, CEO of Swissgrid AG Swissgrid, visited PSI Paul Scherrer Institut to discuss #energy #research, energy systems and security of #electricity #supply. It was a pleasure to show him how PSI is actively contributing to the goals of #EnergyTransition.
