Excited to share that the first paper from the Isom lab is now available on Biorxiv! (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…). We have investigated YhdP at the molecular level to show that it forms an envelope-spanning bridge and that putative phospholipids are found inside this bridge!

Excited to see our GEMs-as-cryo-ET tags paper now out in its final form! Compared to preprint we did more extensive tests and analysis, hope people find it useful.

Almost up and running!! Waiting for the co2 incubator to arrive for the stem cells🥸 ps: I’ve received some applications, and am still open to more. Especially so if you are a student in Tübingen, don’t hesitate to drop me an email okay! You do not need any neuro background😎

SPACEtomo: It allows for completely automated cryoET on lamellae without human intervention. Currently covering Yeast features and soon including other organisms. It can already take maps of all your lamellae and detect ice and cracks on any organism. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Over 4 years in the making, I am excited to share our pre-print on the “In-cell structure and snapshots of copia retrotransposons in intact tissue by cryo-electron tomography”. We used cryo-ET to resolve the copia capsid structure to subnanometer resolution inside cells. A 🧵

High-res In-situ Structures of Mammalian Respiratory Supercomplexes in Reaction within Native Mitochondria biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Check out my lab's first work on membrane proteins! Yes, we knew nothing about detergent😜, so we directly imaged proteins within native membrane!

Glad to contribute to this interesting story. I think everyone working on cryo-ET used to find this kind of interesting cage structures on the membrane. In this work, we identified one of them, and found a function of them. Stay tuned, more to come.😉

Excited to share our work published in NCB! We uncovered how plasma membrane curvatures spatially modulate ER-plasma membrane contacts, shedding light on the enrichment of these contacts at T-tubules in cardiomyocytes.Thank you to all our collaborators and everyone in the CuiLab!
