If anyone is still unclear why the infrastructure from a proper link between the poorly performing East Midlands and the North-West might help to underpin agglomeration and growth Campaign for the Peak Line offers this for its followers

Everyone concerned with rural bus services, especially in Peak District National Park will be concerned about this news. Campaign for the Peak Line notes that it follows on from the liquidation of Derbyshire Community Transport a few months ago. Echoing John Whitby MP in seeking a local solution.

The gleam in Campaign for the Peak Line's eye is to see 2 of these sets, fast from St Pancras to Leicster and Derby. Then.... front 5 Chesterfield and Sheffield, rear 5, Belper, Matlock, Bakewell, Millers Dale, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Chinley, Stockport, Manchester. Feasibility in progress.

Tuxford lock up - solution to prison overcrowding! The facility. It was very busy during Victorian years of rail construction, as Friday night pay was spent on drink and other things.

Campaign for the Peak Line says that a traveller from fast growing Corby could reach Manchester with a single change at Kettering, onto the semi-fast, that might justify a turnback at Bedford, in the wake of Universal Studios' arrival?

Tip of the iceberg - so much to come from rail in Derby over the coming months and years. An increasingly regular destination for the Secretary of State?

A very necessary piece of work for Yorkshire. It is now up to Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward to ensure that this master Yorkshire plan is integrated seamlessly, for example: Nottingham - Leeds improvements.

Can I please update. None of the class 158s provided by this TOC offer wifi. During the current 3 year refurbish, EMR inform us that none will see this facility installed. EMR states for "4 or 5 years" its not worth it. After a costly refurbish, 2040 withdrawal is more likely

A real turning point. No longer will it be necessary to look back and remind people of underinvestment in infrastructure for the East Midlands. This is the future. Well done to Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward and her top tier team

At this event in Buxton at the Palace Hotel: britanniahotels.com/hotels/palace-…, we were reminded that this beautifully restored building was first opened in 1868 soon after the railway arrived here. Rail created a boom then and Campaign for the Peak Line can help to bring Derbyshire prosperity again
