Scarcity is the cause of so many of our nation's ills; the same applies to our city. Lifting the weight of ever-growing monthly expenses on business and families can only come by meeting demand with increased energy production. It's that simple.

Cambridge is starved of lab space, yet any attempt to resolve this crisis is met with intense opposition. The benefits for the city in terms of creating job opportunities and facilitating new investment would be huge, especially compared to the inefficient land use of today.

YIMBY solutions work - just look at Austin. Imagine a 20% drop in rents in Cambridge; that's the sort of drastic change we're missing out on because of NIMBY blockers and planning chaos!

Labour must go as far as it can on planning reform; it is the issue that has disillusioned so many young and working people in this country. If the government succeeds on YIMBY ambitions then they will go down as a success; otherwise, growth remains out of reach.

The biggest barrier to a lower cost of living is our inability to build. - Housing costs are kept high by the barriers to new housing construction. - Electricity costs are high by the barriers to new energy infrastructure. YIMBYism is the easiest route to lower bills.

Subsidising demand is not the answer! 🏦 It's Economics 101: Demand increases but supply stays the same? 📈 Prices go up! This does nothing to deal with the fundamental issue: only large expansions of the housing stock will get us anywhere!

The government is backing down to the NIMBY Lobby, weakening the potential of their planning reforms! YIMBYs must not complacent and take for granted that the government is seeking reform. We must keep up the pressure to make sure Labour sticks with these essential reforms.

Britain simply does not have a substantial number of vacant homes. If the government wants to have plentiful housing that they can affordably use as an alternative to hotels, then they need to be uncompromisingly YIMBY!

Without affordable energy prices, Britain and Cambridge become a less attractive investment prospect for AI investment. A flourishing Cambridge with a successful tech sector that meets its potential needs lower energy prices; and that means building more energy infrastructure.
