As we start our Monday morning, Aug 4th, the temp at 530 on Hovey Av was 64 degres w 84% humidity. Let's work together to make this a safe week for everyone! In fiscal year 2025, Hovey Av companies (Engine 1, Ladder 1, & Rescue 1) made more than 7100 emergency responses.

I) Training evolutions: Among today's activities, Engine 3, Squad 3, & Division 1 ran a training exercise to a simulated fire at the East Cambridge training facility. Engine 3 secured a water supply while the FFs of Engine 3 & Squad 3 stretched 2 attack lines to the upper floors.

II) Training Evolutions: All members were on SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) air & in full PPE (personal protective equipment) during the evolution. Artificially generated "theatrical" smoke was utilized to create the near-zero visibility. Group 2 on duty.

III) Training Evolutions: As in any firefighting operation, there are many moving parts with numerous tasks to be completed simultaneously, resulting in a well-organized & efficeint operation. It's all about #Teamwork.

IV) Training Evolutions: The new East Cambridge Training Facility is conducive to running a variety of firefighting evolutions from stretching an attack line in near zero visibilty (as shown here) to ladder work, search & rescue, tech rescue skills, & more. Group 2 on duty.

Following each training evolution, procedures are reviewed & lessons reinforced, & all hose, tools, SCBA, & equipment are made up to be ready for the next run. Group 2 on duty.
