Our wonderful #artdeco saloons were restored by a great team starting with Cammell Laird and SeaKing Electrical the fit out was by MPE Interiors and finally the wonderful furniture was hand made by Jacob Bespoke Furniture. Thanks of course to The National Lottery Heritage Fund. #heritage #Steam #volunteers

#OnThisDay 1992 the last diesel powered submarine built for the Royal Navy HMS UNICORN is launched Cammell Laird in Birkenhead. She only served for a year and was later sold to Royal Canadian Navy where she still serves as HMCS WINDSOR

Yesterday, we arrived in Cammell Laird as the first T45 to go through the Power Improvement Project (PIP) where our 2 Diesel Generators will be removed & replaced with 3 more powerful ones 💪 Over the next weeks we'll share more info about PIP & what it means for us & Royal Navy

#OnThisDay we remember HMS Thetis, and the Ninety- nine lives lost when she sank, on June 1 1939: 51 crew members, 26 Cammell Laird employees, 8 other naval officers, 7 Admiralty overseeing officers, 4 Vickers-Armstrong employees, 2 caterers and a Mersey pilot.

#DidYouKnow The Thetis Clip is a latch which allows a torpedo tube door to be opened no more than a small amount in case it is open to the sea at the bow end. Once it is clear that no flooding will occur the latch can be released and the door fully opened.
