For #EndangeredSpeciesDay (20 May) we thought we’d showcase one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most endangered invertebrates: the Canterbury Knobbled Weevil! This critter was thought to be extinct for nearly 100 years, but in 2004, a small population was discovered near Burkes Pass.

The Museum’s lift is out of operation. Access to Level 3 and the Museum Cafe is by the stairs only. We are awaiting delivery of a crucial part from Australia and hope to have the lift running again in the next few days. We apologise for this inconvenience.
