I’ll keep on watching movies made in “foreign lands”

This might be the best opportunity to see this masterpiece on the big screen. The programmers at@am_cinematheque continues to outdo themselves.

No one asked but I think one of the key things about freelancing is endurance. You have to persevere through rejection, uncertainty, the stress of feast or famine, and the taxes you have to pay each year.

Fascinating that this year we get two Frankenstein films by Mexican directors: Guillermo del Toro’s FRANKENSTEIN and Mexico’s first-ever stop-motion animated film I AM FRANKELDA by Roy and Arturo Ambriz. Netflix should buy I AM FRANKELDA and release them both this fall.

This marvel opens in theaters Friday.

I really liked MATERIALISTS. Celine Song plays with romcom tropes to deliver something edgier, moving but not saccharine. The standout for me is Chris Evans playing a broke actor working catering jobs. It’s refreshing to see him play a normal person with depth and insecurities.
