☀️ If someone's wearing more clothes than you, please don't comment. You don't know if they: - are hiding self harm scars - are hiding signs of DV - have an eating disorder - struggle with body image - have other medical or cultural reasons for not exposing skin #bekind

The work of people with lived experience needs to be valued not just in your use of words. Please stop expecting us to work for free. Our expertise is valuable and has its place, alongside other professionals #livedexperience

Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the

The reason trauma survivors are so independent is because they grew up in homes where needing help was met with criticism. They’ve adapted to not needing others, because of what it costs to want help & to get hurt for asking. Independence isn’t a choice but an act of survival.

Pastoral Leads: please know that talking about eating disorders to your students will not "give them ideas". So disheartening being asked NOT to talk about body image & eating disorders but "just stick to wellbeing". Yes I can do that & it'll be good, but pls don't be fearful

Many eating disorders services have an obsession with patients’ “fear of abandonment”. My personal view is the majority of this is a way to deflect from the pain of not being able to provide sufficient care, framing a clinical deficiency as a patient pathology. It’s grim.

I am not surprised but deeply sad that 40 per cent of parents of disabled children have considered suicide. Lack of support, battles with authorities. Imagine if this was any other group of parents. 💜 Bridget Phillipson Catherine McKinnell MP #SEND #socialcare birmingham.ac.uk/news/2024/more…

📢 Looking to speak to someone in the armed forces that has/has had an eating disorder—for an exciting project. DM me if that's you, or if you know someone!

Thank you @Nataliefleet for such a brave, poignant & deeply moving interview tonight. Far from easy but so important. It takes enormous courage to speak out but I've no doubt you are helping countless women who have experienced the same. Thank you #Newsnight

Having read this twice, to rectify my recurring issues, it's got me thinking.. Are there any school PE curriculums that teach their pupils running movement? Not performance or times, but actual efficiency & correct movement? Looking back, as a pupil & PE teacher, I just 'ran'

Been off X for months but just finished Lily Ebert's book & I couldn't not pop back to spread the word. Dov Forman I'm lost for words as Lily so often was, for very different reasons, but deeply grateful that she kept her promise. If you haven't read it, do! #neverforget

Never stop the conversation about mental health. It’s crucial to talk about it all the time and as much as you can. Don’t just talk about it when it’s Suicide Prevention Day or Mental Health Day, or when it’s trending. Keep the conversation going 💜
