Carpenters' Hall will be open to the public tomorrow! The museum is closed on Monday, but we will be open in celebration of Presidents' Day. We are setting up a small pop up exhibit that shows the historical connection between Carpenters' Hall and various US presidents.

The fight for workers' rights has often been long & difficult. Take Philadelphia carpenters & their demands for a 10-hour workday. They led the first major U.S. strike in 1791, but were still advocating for "6 to 6" with a city-wide strike in 1835.

We were all made better by David McCullough's commitment to history. Rich in detail, his books humanized history. I was deeply honored to be the first recipient of the McCullough Award for Excellent in American Public History. My sincere condolences to his family and community.

We remember today, David McCullough- a world renowned scholar and historian, who passed this weekend at the age of 89. Mr. McCullough lent us his name when we created the David McCullough Prize for Excellence in American Public History in 2018. For this, we feel honored!
