Disassociating your personal life from your job isn’t easy. Thinking of the FL EMs in EOCs who’ve lost contact with their families. They’re watching the destruction wondering if their homes are destroyed, while managing a disaster. They’ll need our support after this. #EMGTwitter

Pres. Carter established FEMA, which in my opinion, formalized the existence of our profession. He’s sort of a big deal for us EMs, whether we know it or not. Regardless of your affiliation, take a moment to reflect and show gratitude #EMGTwitter

Forget about boomers, gens x, y, or z… there are those that know Mark Wahlberg and Marky Mark are the same person… and then there are “younger” people that do not know this. #genmarkymark #uberconversations

It’s June 1. If you aren’t jammin’ to Hurricane by Band of Heathens, are you really an emergency manager? Go ahead. Do the anti-storm dance. No one’s watching. #EMGTwitter

The #explosion in the DC area was a sonic boom caused by an active intercept scramble because of an unresponsive aircraft. The aircraft was a Citation V business jet, registration N611VG. Stock photo of the same model of a/c.

Today, IAEM, NEMA DC, & Big City EM sent a letter to @OMBPress, urging an increase in the EMPG program to $455m. Despite a temp. COVID-19 increase, the allocation reverted to $355m and has been there since FY20. Consider reaching out to elected officials to advocate for this.

“AI should not be replacing human decision making processes…it can’t replace empathy,” explains Carrie Speranza, CEM. Utilizing #AI as a co-pilot (rather than the sole pilot) leads to creative & data-based solutions to issues while still based in humanity and empathy. #NEMAForum2024

#Transparency is vital for an ethical use of #AI , says Carrie Speranza, CEM (IAEM) . Policies and governance of AI should be a paramount focus in implementation, so all employees understand what this technology means for their work & their mission. #NEMAForum2024

I worked, I saved, and I splurged to spoil myself (which I never get to do) to upgrade my seat for a ~5 hr flight. Upon arrival I was downgraded without reason, given a middle seat, and served moldy cheese. United Airlines, How does an airline make this right? Shameful service.
