Today is #NationalCameraDay! This Bell & Howell motion picture camera was used by the Carters for several years to document their trips and many home videos. Now it’s part of our collection, along with some of the clips it captured #PresidentialLibrary #CarterLibrary #HomeVideos

Of course we wouldn’t celebrate National Day of Rock n’ Roll without our favorite Rock n’ Roll President. Here, President Carter admirably watches one of the blues/early rock greats, Muddy Waters, in August of 1978 during a White House staff picnic. Image no.: nlc06924.16

In 1979, President Carter installed solar panels on the White House & warned of the cost of ignoring clean energy. They were removed in 1986—but you can see one today at our museum. His 1978 plan aimed for U.S. energy independence by 2020. #GlobalEnergyIndependenceDay

February 20th, 1978 had a low of 5°F in Wilmington, but Pres. Carter kept his plans to visit the Hotel DuPont and Padua Academy! He was there with his longtime friend, DE Sen. Joe Biden (as well as Biden's wife of eight months, Jill!). #NationalDelawareDay #CartersAcrossAmerica

#OTD 1913, Pres. Gerald Ford was born. While political opponents during the 1976 Pres. Election, Carter and Ford came to be close friends, calling and visiting each other often. Ford’s visit in this photo occurred on 03/22/77, only two months after he departed the White House!

We can hear the bells! Let’s toast National Wedding Invitation Day with one of the coolest invitations that the Carters rec'd, for Regina Johnson and Ed Williams of Nebraska. Unfortunately, the Carters were preparing to move into the White House at the time! NARA ID: 104459577

Yes chef! First Lady Carter met the chefs and guests at the Log Cabin Inn in Media, PA on 09/22/78, during an event for U.S. Rep Bob Edgar. Sadly, the Log Cabin Inn would be lost to a fire in 1993. Imgs. nlc07570.8 and .12 #NationalPennsylvaniaDay #CartersAcrossAmerica

President Carter may have been “down the shore” for a labor union event, but he at least got to hang around a block from the beach on the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City! #NationalNewJerseyDay #CartersAcrossAmerica

For #InternationalDayofFriendship, we wanted to highlight the Carters’ involvement with @friendshipforce. Rev. Wayne Smith (pictured here) and President Carter unveiled the nonprofit on 3/1/1977. The Carters’ original membership cards, seen here, are in our museum collection.
