Today is Mountain Rescue Awareness Day. As a charity who works with mountain rescue teams in the hillier parts of the UK, we would like to officially recognise the care and dedication shown by these people. All volunteers, they give up their time to train and be on call.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻! This spooky season we aren't here just for the tricks or treats but instead we're here for the ghoulishly realistic casualty simulations! From frightful fractures to monstrous head injuries we are here to help you prepare for the unexpected.

At Casualties Union, our SFX makeup skills become extremely popular with our friends and family at Halloween. It's not a huge jump from realistic wounds to ghoulish gashes and spooky slashes, and we are often called on to add a bit of makeup magic to people's Halloween costumes.

Operation Salthouse: Bringing Rail Safety to Life Last month, 8 volunteers and 20 college students participated in a realistic train collision drill. The scenario tested responders on coordinated response and safe evacuations; enhancing life-saving skills and communication.

How would you fancy lying wedged in a narrow concrete tube waiting to be rescued? That is precisely what one of our volunteers did on a recent confined spaces training exercise with Penrith Mountain Rescue Team (Mountain Rescue Team) and COMRU (Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit) in Cumbria.

Volunteering with the Casualties Union isn't just about makeup or drama; it's about preparing others and about empowering our first responders to face real-life situations confidently.
