Have read 789 books this year, so hit my goal. My favorite book of the month was Feuti's HarperKids A KID LIKE ME (2/3/26). Friend drama is always popular with my students, and this showed some resilience.

Strangely enough, the word tídfara or “time traveler” actually appears in an Old English poem. In the poem, an angel tells St. Guthlac of Crowland “You are now a time traveler” (Þú eart nú tídfara) when he ascends to heaven without dying, but nobody knows what was meant by that.

William Faulkner on writing Sanctuary: "I had just written my guts into The Sound and the Fury though I was not aware until the book was published that I had done so, because I had done it for pleasure. I believed then that I would never be published again."

I’ve worked with the talented Eliza Wheeler on three books - WHEREVER YOU GO, WHEN YOU ARE BRAVE and WHEN I’M WITH YOU. I’m thrilled she added my latest, ONE CAN BE, to a Twin Cities Little Free Library®. Eliza is the illustrator-author of NYT-bestselling MISS MAPLE’S SEEDS. Like

Gregory went from the saddest cat in the shelter, to spacecat superstar, to helping other animals in need, all thanks to you. I almost can’t believe it, but today I was able to donate $10k to his former animal shelter. Remember: even if you’re small, your impact can be large.

11/05/25 As Astoria was navigating her long runway in preparation for roosting, she suddenly fanned her tail as if on alert about a predator . It’s a Red Tailed Hawk sitting on a branch above us ! Very interesting! #birdcpp ❤️🦃🙏

Fabulous Visigothic bronze belt buckles inlaid with cloisonné glass. AD 500s. Which is your favourite? 🤩 From the Visigothic Necropolis of Duratón, near Segovia, Spain. Casa del Sol Museum, Segovia 📷 by me #Archaeology

I want to follow everyone who follows me, which seems only courteous, but when I follow someone and they immediately start DMing me about services they offer authors, I wonder if I should revisit my policy.

I’m reading a recently published book in which the word fortnight (meaning a period of two weeks) is spelled “fortnite.” We're not going to make it, I'm afraid.

The foreshore at London Bridge is now closed for essential maintenance. We’ve become old friends over the last 2 decades and on my final visit this stretch of the river gave me a parting gift, a tiny bone die that must be at least 300 years old, probably older. #mudlarking

People who love the changing of leaves, birdsong or the quiet hush of the woods, the smell of rain, the gentleness of moss, reading beneath a tree and believing that the finding of a smooth stone or a bird's feather is treasure - those are my kind of people.

Too many people have resigned themselves to not reading because they fear they no longer have the focus for it. You only need to limit your screen time for a few days to begin feeling the effects on your brain. I promise you, you are capable of reading books again.

Cathy Carr (@cathycarrwrites) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is totally true! I remember falling asleep in front of the TV and waking up to a screen full of snow. Nothing to do at that point but switch it off.
