In the CHAT trial, azithromycin or placebo was given to 32,877 infants (5 to 12 weeks of age). No evidence of benefit with respect to mortality before 6 months of age was seen with azithromycin. Read the full trial results: nej.md/3U4jndT

2024 Annual Meeting dates have been shifted to November 13-17. Taylor Swift concerts were scheduled the weekend of our original dates, bringing up to 250K fans to NOLA. Shifting dates will help our attendees access #TropMed24 as affordably as possible. tinyurl.com/5b36ut2s

Really excited to see this out today. This study was an incredible collaboration with CRSN Nouna (Centre de Recherche en Santรฉ de Nouna). These results, coupled with recent negative findings from individual RCTs, strongly suggest a mass drug administration approach to observe a benefit from azithro for mortality.

Very bummed to be missing #SER2024 but I tested positive for COVID late last week and I would be a very bad epidemiologist if I went so I will have FOMO instead ๐Ÿ˜ญ
