Sailing frigate USS CONSTITUTION is out in Boston harbor today, 17 May -- her first underway period of the year. Five more underways are scheduled. As should be obvious, the ship shows reduced rigging due to near-continuous preservation efforts.

Very unfortunate accident as the Mexican Navy's sail training ship CUAUHTEMOC backed into the Brooklyn Bridge evening of 17 May while leaving New York. Ship hits the bridge, top masts are downed, people were in the river and being rescued. Another video at facebook.com/nycfirewire/vi…

Not just the great SS UNITED STATES has gone to die in Mobile, Alabama. Venerable ex-USS #ENTERPRISE CVN65 will die there as well. Navy awarded a $537 mil contract 30 May to NorthStar Maritime Dismantlement to break up the Big E entirely by Nov 2029. Ship now is in Newport News

STORIS WAGB21, US Coast Guard's 1st icebreaker to enter service since 1999, sailed fm Pascagoula 3 June after conversion work in Tampa FL. The former commercial AIVIQ was purchased in 2024 as an "interim-capability icebreaker." Will be based at Juneau AK news.uscg.mil/Press-Releases…
