A very cold and wet day yesterday taking weaners to their new paddock. Supposed to be mouthing today for the upcoming Blue Ribbon Show Sale. More wet weather coming so we’ll have to see what happens. 🇦🇺 David Connolly and Sue Brosnan bring your beanie 🥶

💡 Just released 💡 Results of our project with Landcare Australia on 'Benchmarking Sub-soil Carbon': 📈 Case study: the potential for soil carbon to offset farm emissions 📈 Soil carbon monitoring protocol 📈 Analysis of soil test results bit.ly/subsoilcarbon

The article in the link is worth a read. Supports my strong skepticism and suspicions about the real feasibility of the multitude of ‘carbon farming’ projects in Western Q and NW NSW. Brokers have been pushing these projects hard.

Found this little fella just now. Got a respiratory infection so a shot of penicillin, bit of metacam for good measure & tucked in for the night. Not hopeful but we do our best

Doing my best for hopefully some good Karma on the fire front. Emu and chick's behind if you look closely, hunting them into the safety of the river bed from oncoming fire front. Kimberley fires have been crazy this year.

I wonder how many hits NAFI hotpots gets every day. I’m on it 5 + every day. Getting sick and tired of fighting fires. There’s got to be more done to stop people lighting up Off to finish firebreaks before it’s jumps the boundary 🇦🇺 David Connolly Matt Brann

Very strange fruit our gum tree seems to be growing. They say you have to look out for drop bears in Aus. At least this is only a python. Though I don’t think the birds were impressed, might be one inside it.

The scale of the fires currently burning across northern Australia is pretty unfathomable. This animation visualises just the last two months of fire captured by #DEAHotspots - for context, the map covers an area larger than France, Spain and Germany combined...

🌾WA Grain growers🌾 As I sit here listening to podcasts and pondering whether tonight might be the first time I turn the lights on (hard no), I'm feeling a bit disconnected from the rest of the WA harvest. So, how's harvest going in your little piece of paradise?👇

Day 9 fires seem to be under control here. We haven’t known which one to fight first. Up until 4am yesterday morning we had gone 52 hours without any sleep & barely any before that. We’ve had to run for our lives too many times this week.

Pulled up yesterday morning about 3:30am after another back burn. Too tired to drive home. We now carry the luxury of a sleeping bag after sleeping on the dirt. It’s surprising how comfortable cattle pads can be. Rudely woken by a cow on her way to water lucky she went around
