I agree with the CES’ goal “not to find ‘the right answer’ but to better understand the options” says Baroness Nicky Morgan
I found out 5mins before arriving at the DfE that I would be Secretary of State and was immediately asked what I intended to do in the role - CES will help policy makers get up to speed says Baroness Nicky Morgan
Loic Menzies The Centre for Education Systems A really interesting afternoon, looking forward to seeing where this leads us!
Was great to be at the launch of The Centre for Education Systems’s this evening. Sound policy relies on sound data and measured analysis. Delighted that some of the very smartest people working in education will be contributing in this way.
I was privileged this evening to be an invitee at the Palace of Westminster for the launch of The Centre for Education Systems So interesting to hear the thoughts of former education ministers on the role of politics and evidence in policy making. Mine can be found here: shorturl.at/3TEt2
Our Director of Education spoke at the House of Lords for the launch of The Centre for Education Systems, a new body we are funding. It will learn from different systems in the UK's home nations & globally to inform & improve education policy. Two former Secretaries of State also spoke.
We're funding their first research project on accountability & curriculum, led by Loic Menzies. It will examine evidence from the home nations, 9 countries & Ontario, to explore if education systems are successful due to policies, or behaviours & cultures. nuffieldfoundation.org/project/accoun…
Our Education Programme Head Emily Tanner spoke at the Association of Colleges (AoC) conference on how research can influence policy in post-14 education, training & skills, highlighting work by National Foundation for Educational Research Institute for the Future of Work & The Centre for Education Systems as examples of #NuffieldFunded projects seeking to create change.
Absolute pleasure to join Tom Richmond to discuss plans for the new The Centre for Education Systems Listen to Lucy Crehan & I explain: - Why more evidence might not mean less politics - & why that’s ok - Why context-free policy borrowing helps no-one - What ‘success’ looks like for CES.
Loic Menzies Tom Richmond The Centre for Education Systems Lucy Crehan Really looking forward to listening to this!
