Listening to The Living Air, celebrating 100 years of BBC in Northern Ireland hosted by John Toal on BBC Radio Ulster & who should pop up but The McCooeys remembered by playwright Christina Reid. Quite right too! 70 years on, still nothing to compare with Joe Tomelty's classic

The late, lamented Stewart Parker who was so enamoured of The McCooeys that he once said he would have liked to written episodes for it. What might he have come up with? No greater praise for Joseph Tomelty's classic radio series.
