The limitations and the strategic folly of Israel’s brutal and counterproductive war in Gaza could not be more obvious. 15 months on, tens of thousands of civilian deaths, yet nothing enduring really achieved. The futility of force.

Two options: IDF spent too much time killing civilians, not focusing on Hamas, or Hamas reconstituting as fast as they were attrited. Either way, the grim predictability that the IDF wouldn’t eliminate Hamas with crude military force alone has come to pass. No surprise.

Do you ever think that IDF detention centres are just filled with health care workers, rather than Al Qassam members? Increasingly looks that way, judging by recent footage from Gaza.

One can only surmise that the shooting dead of unarmed civilians in Gaza has become completely normalised for the IDF. It makes me wonder how many unreported Palestinian civilians have been shot dead since the ceasefire commenced. haaretz.com/israel-news/20…

So there can be ā€˜no military solution’ in DRC, right? Yet you’re quite happy to support Israel’s barbaric ā€˜military solution’ in Gaza. What flawed, illogical, biased thinking is this? šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

It’s an imperfect ceasefire, for sure, and both sides have behaved with reckless dishonour but it’s good to see hostages and detainees released, and one can only hope it leads to an end to this conflict. But the confrontation will continue until the root causes are addressed.

In a shocking account from Gaza, IDF soldiers from the Nahal Brigade committed a horrific act that defies basic human dignity. During a military operation in the Zeitoun neighborhood in May 2024, a senior officer forced an 80-year-old Palestinian man to serve as a human shield by

What Trump fails to understand is that China will view his abandonment and betrayal of Ukraine as an indicator that he will so the same with Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion. His approach is strategically illiterate & hugely dangerous to global stability.

In any normal conflict this would headline across the media. But it’s Israel-Gaza, and the majority of our media and our government don’t seem to give a flying Ā£&@k about Palestinian lives. It’s beyond belief.

It was murder. Cold blooded executions of civilian healthcare workers. Not a ā€˜professional failure’. Let’s face it, the only failure in the eyes of the IDF was in being caught. theguardian.com/world/2025/apr…

Strong words. Good to read. But must now be backed up by an absolute determination to sanction Israel, to bring its political & military leaders to justice, & to safeguard Palestinian lives. Otherwise these words are meaningless. Nothing more than virtue signalling.

Charlie Herbert (@charlie533080) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Is there no end to this murderous horror? Is there really no level of depravity that is too much for those who continue to support this genocidal rage against the Palestinian people. All involved must be brought to justice. theguardian.com/world/2025/may…

Charlie Herbert (@charlie533080) 's Twitter Profile Photo

An unimaginable tragedy for this family. I cannot begin to imagine their pain and grief. How can any rational human - with any shred of humanity - go on supporting Israel’s killing rage against the Palestinian people? It’s incomprehensible.
