I certainly can't complain about the view during today's surveying! I was joined by this curious Kittiwake, peeking out from the beautiful carpet of Thrift.

Fantastic to see my first ever Minke Whale today whilst conducting seabird monitoring at St Abb's. It spent ages amongst large flocks of diving Gannets allowing for fantastic views through binoculars.

This Siberian Stonechat, along North Dykes on Saturday was Charlotte Foote, now on Bluesky third new bird of the day, after having mega views of Arctic Warbler at Spurn and then Pale-legged Leaf Warbler at Bempton, which was a surprisingly well behaved bird, showing well on multiple occasions!

A slow seawatch this morning with a trickle of Little Auks and a Velvet Scoter. Cool to have this Jack Snipe come in off the sea and land on the cliff in front of us. Spurn Bird Observatory

It was great fun to participate in @patchbirding.bsky.social last year. Unfortunately, I won't be in one place long enough in 2025 but I look forward to seeing how everyone gets on!

We’ve started Motus tagging Jack Snipe this week as a part of the Motus Tracking Project! Last week, 3 Jack Snipe were tagged in the LDV NNR , and now we have captured and tagged an individual here at Spurn! 1/6 📸 C Foote

My first Rustic Bunting! After an otherwise slow start following a week of strong winds, it was fantastic to spot this in a bush and then get a closer look when it later ended up in a net.
